Pokemon fans now have a new toy at their disposal for Wi-Fi trades. www.pokemon-gts.net has been launched as a means of showing the world how many people are trading pokemon online and across the world. While you can’t actually trade your pokemon on this webside, you can, however, look up the most sought after pokemon, the most deposited pokemon, and more.
I don’t know which I liked more, the globe showing actual trades (for example, sending a Bulbasaur from Michigan to Japan) or the ticker at the bottom of the screen that looks like stocks but is, in fact, the top most traded Pokemon and where they have moved on the Top 50 list. Diamond and Pearl, since their release earlier this year, have sold more than 10 million games, which is more than any of the other games in the series.
The best part of the Global Trade Station is the fact that you don’t necessarily need a friend to catch you that Pokemon in Pearl that you don’t have in Diamond, you can just trade for it over Wi-Fi. Now that this website is up, you can keep track of all kinds of things, from how many different countries people are trading in to the Top 5 most traded Pokemon in a specific country. It will also tell you how many Global Trade Station users are in that country, and what percentage are boys and girls (I’m sorry to say my gender is not well represented, but maybe in the next game…) not to mention the country’s capital, national flag, overall population, and language! You can learn greetings in some countries’ language and add it to your bookmarks for later.
This website is a great testament to how many people still play Pokemon all over the world and is a very interesting site to browse through. There is so much more to it, but it’d be too boring if I just sat here and told you about it, click on the link above and check it out for yourself! Pokemon fans of all ages and veteran-ness will enjoy this website, especially if you enjoy trading over Wi-Fi.
