MGS fans across the world have been icthing to get their hands on the all new Metal Gear Online, and it was looking like the beta would go live this morning. When it didn’t Konami decided it was time to announce a statement regarding the beta:
…we regret to inform you that due to extraordinary levels of traffic from all around the globe, we have been unable to run the service to the level we expected. As a temporary measure, we will be deferring the start of the US public beta test until we are able to stabilize our server. We would like to apologize for all inconveniences as well as confusion caused.
This may seem like a bad thing for fans, but on refelction, it’s probably for the best. But as anyone who has attempted to download/update the Beta, or try and acess the impossible to reach Konami code site will know, the service hasn’t been great. My own PS3 is currently downloading the update, which has been going since 7 this morning…15%! Let’s hope that Konami sorts this out by the time June 12th comes around; the real game will probably take even longer to update.
