A recent listing on Walmart.com suggests Gran Turismo for the PSP is coming September 1st, 2008. This seems to be the only listing on a major retail website so take this with a grain of salt. Last we knew, Polyphony Digital said they would finish Gran Turismo for the PSP AFTER they shipped GT5 for the PS3. Could Wal-Mart have the inside scoop? Doubtful. Someone likely threw this up as a mistake and considering GT5 will barely ship this year, perhaps Gran Turismo 4 for the PSP will be ready by September 1st, 2009.
On a side note, the PSP was unlocked last year to let developers use the systems specs to their fullest. So that means the Polyphony Digital team has the full 333 MHz to work with once they get back to the project. That makes me very excited (in a non-perverted way), I wait to see how great the game looks when it is eventually released.
Update: The game will be out in 2009 according to GT series creator Kazunori Yamauchi;
“We had been developing the PSP version, but the problem was that the PS3 version took much more time and effort than we had first imagined,” Yamauchi revealed. So that’s been delayed – I don’t think we’ll be able to make the end of this year for the PSP version, but we are working on it.”
