Achievement Hoard is a (hopefully) recurring series that tackles the most challenging Xbox 360 achievements, arming you with the strategies you need to stack your Gamerscore. Also keep an eye out for the Left 4 Dead review coming this week; it won’t be what you expect.

In an multi-leveled pun of epic proportions, the first installment of Achievement Hoard appropriately tackles Left 4 Dead and will help you terminate the zombie masses with extreme prejudice.

The Achievement: Cr0wned – Kill a witch in a single headshot – 30G
The Difficulty: WTF at first, OMG easy when you know what you’re doing
The Method: First, put down the hunting rifle. It seems like the obvious choice for this achievement, but the auto-shotgun is what you want. Second, be patient. What baffles many is the fact that the witch cannot be hurt until she stands up. Turn off your flashlight, approach her from behind, and as soon as she climbs to her feet, turn that bitch’s mugshot into a Jackson Pollack. This will also net you the Witch Hunter (20G) achievement if you haven’t gotten it already.

The Achievement: Unbreakable – Finish a campaign without ever being healed – 30G
The Difficulty: Goddamn bots, I wish I had more friends
The Method: If you don’t have four human players, this one can be frustrating, so here’s one for you gamers out there without Xbox LIVE. Obviously, the best approach is to set the difficulty to easy and down painkillers like (insert celebrity here). The problem is, when you inevitably take damage, the bots are going to heal you. What may not be immediately evident, however, is if you pull out a med-pack or pain pills, they will stop. So keep a health kit on you at all times and equip it when a bot tries to bandage your broken ass. If you are hurt bad and have no pills, they are going to repeatedly try to heal you in moments of respite, so try to stay drugged up or prepare to turn this into a chore. This will also net you the Stand Tall achievement (20G) if you haven’t gotten it already.
