If I didn’t see it with my own eyes, I would of never believed it. According to XBOX.com the Xbox Live Video Marketplace will be hitting Canada and Europs on December 11th! For all of our readers in the US this will be non-news, but you see we “non-Yanks” have been getting the proverbial shaft for years now. Both Microsoft and Apple have promised that “A video marketplace will be coming SOON” but as of yet none have actually delivered.According to the official press release we are only getting 25 movies at launch, so our store will differ from the US store, but it’s a start. No mention of TV shows, but I’m hoping that this was just an omission to focus on the movie content in the press release. I for one will be miffed if TV show content is in fact not offered, but we’ll see on that one. Here is some info from the press release describing pricing, but it seems to fall in line with the US store’s model.

What’s more, you won’t need to compromise on choice or quality. With over 25 movies available at launch from studios like Warner Bros., you’ll have an all-star selection of flicks at your fingertips. There’s something for everyone too – from family entertainment like Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone and Looney Tunes: Back in Action through to intense blockbusters such as 300, and hard-hitting dramas like The Perfect Storm. And with the choice to download most movies in either standard or glorious high definition you’ll be guaranteed a first class experience that will take best advantage of your home entertainment setup. Standard definition movies are just 250 Microsoft Points, while HD movies are priced at 380 Microsoft Points.

So three cheers for Microsoft for actually making this happen. Now we too can fill our too small hard drives with content that we may or may not actually own!
