The first round of downloadable content for the excellent Assassin’s Creed 2 is now available to buy from the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live. Battle of Forli is a missing chapter in Ezio’s story, in which he teams up with the famous Machiavelli in a six mission romp to protect the town from invasion.
For anyone who wants more of the same action from the main game, Battle of Forli is a nice extra slice of the Assassin’s Creed 2 pie. Although the content is short (about an hour of gaming), the missions are as fun as those in the main game, and the gap in the story is half explored. Anyone expecting new game-changing content will be disappointed though, as Battle of Forli only plugs the narrative void, and doesn’t offer anything we haven’t already seen.
Next month we’ll be treated to the final piece of the Assassin’s Creed 2 jigsaw in Bonfire of the Vanities, but whether people will happily pay for content that was meant to be in the final game is the real puzzle.
Assassin’s Creed 2: Battle of Forli is available now for £3.19/$3.99USD.
