I have been a HUGE fan of the Bomberman series since way back in the SNES days of partying it up with three other friends in my parent’s basement. There was nothing quite as satisfying as planting the perfect bomb arrangement to take your annoying little brother out of the game!
That being said, I was excited about the announcement made by Hudson Entertainment earlier today of their intention to bring an all-new Bomberman title to the Wii. From viewing the screenshots that have become available, Bomberman Blast looks to follow closely in it’s predecessor’s winning format. While there was no indication of when we can expect this title to be downloadable, there was a lot of other information included in the press release; definitely enough to keep me highly interested!
There will be a solo game included, but I think we all know that the multiplayer action is where it’s at. There will be 10 multiplayer arenas included in the game: some brand new, while others are renditions of classic Bomberman levels. You’ll be able to join into 8-player online multi-player battles, with four players being able to hook up to the same Wii. In another neat addition to the game, once you’ve played all 10 levels, you’ll be able to play as your very own Mii! This feature will add all sorts of interesting possibilities of destroying the actual Mii-image of my still-annoying little brother, over 10 years later!
Since the game will be online, there will be leaderboards so you can check your progress. Hudson has also announced several online Bomberman Blast tournaments that they are planning on hosting, one which will coincide nicely with the eventual launch of the game.

By using their Miis, gamers will have the opportunity to definitively prove who has the best Mii by sending them into a Bomberman Blast arena, then blowing away the competition! Bomberman Blast is the perfect party game, allowing players from around the world to join in on the fun. Up to four players on the same Wii can hop online.
