Broderlands runs into supply issues on east, west coast

borderlands_altRetail shortages of Gearbox Studio’s new title Borderlands are being reported in the US. Canada is also dealing with supply issues, possibly as the result of the game’s super-cheap CDN$40 price tag.

Gearbox’s Steve Gibson contacted Joystiq about the shortage and explained the shortage is generally limited to the Xbox 360 version, particularly on the east coast. Gibson told Joystiq that Gearbox is “working with production and distribution at ramping up to catch up with demand.” Supply should increase dramatically by the end of the week, Gibson said.

Conversely, it seems difficult to find the PS3 version on the west coast, but Gibson said the issues “are mostly regional and can be addressed by reallocation.”

We played a very early pre-release round of Broderlands earlier this year and found it to be a blast and Gearbox is a studio that, whilst having some hiccups, has some great, great potential. Borderlands may well show it – hopefully many people can pick up the game and share in the fun.
