The folks at IGN generally know what they’re talking about, so we can take Hilary Goldstein’s word for it when he calls every facet of Rockstar’s masterpiece an applaudable triumph of gaming. The premise is set, the stakes are high, and in a surprise to the world: you care about the story, and get invested in Niko’s backdrop.
We could go on for ages extrapolating from his world-exclusive review – but instead, read it here for yourself.
This is the first 10 IGN has awarded in 9 years, calling Grand Theft Auto IV “the best game since The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time.” How’s that for praise?

I really, really hate when it’s referred to as a “perfect” 10. The IGN review states that it’s *not* perfect, as does the “10″ descriptor on the website.
I’m sure it’s awesome, but calling it perfect when IGN themselves did not seems strange to me.
