Not content with just spreading their Guitar Hero to include drums and vocals, Activision are expanding even further with a trio of new titles this Autumn. The long rumoured DJ Hero, and inevitable Guitar Hero 5 are joined by the unexpected Band Hero, which is set to bring the series to a whole new audience.
DJ Hero is the most interesting of the games, as the new DJ deck peripheral has finally been unveiled. Pictured above, it looks like the controller will look great up against the ones already on the market, keeping the trademark bright coloured button, despite there only being three buttons. The game is set to include hip-hop, R&B, Motown, electronica and dance, so near enough all DJ style tastes of music should be catered for. Whether this will have the lasting appeal the guitars have had is unknown, but either way, DJ Hero should be a must play for Rhythm game fans.
Band Hero is less revolutionary; its main aim being to develop Guitar Hero into a more family friendly experience. Focusing on top 40 songs rather than Rock classics, it could be the game to convert followers of games like SingStar, who may not like the idea of rocking out to music they don’t personally like. The game is aid to be a tad easier than the Guitar Hero series too, which hopefully means a No Fail mode will be present this time round.
Rounding out the triple hit of megabucks investments this autumn is Guitar Hero 5 which shouldn’t surprise anyone when it’s released later in the year. Solid Release dates and pricing are yet to be revealed, but we can predict huge numbers for these games, especially on their most popular home, the Wii. The usual platforms will be host to all three games in Autumn.
