At Nukoda, we gather around the live press conference and take in all the information possible. In a simultaneous AIM “WTF” moment, Nintendo announced a DS-exclusive Grand Theft Auto title – Grand Theft Auto Chinatown Wars.
The press conference moved on from this big announcement surprisingly quickly, and didn’t make a big splash of the situation. In the brief time the game was discussed however, it was revealed that operation would take place on a new engine, in a recreated Liberty City. Nintendo emphasized that even with the limitations of a hand held console; the game would not deviate from the series’ free-roaming capabilities. It was also hinted that “familiar characters” would appear in the game, so our money is on a few Liberty City classics like 8-Ball and Joey.
No release date was given, but jacking cars with a stylus is imminent.
