In keeping with the other two conferences seen this year, Sony brought out the big guns, with announcements, gameplay videos of their best games and some huge shocks.
The gameplay of God of War III had to be some of the best seen in any conference, while the sections of MAG and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves created a new sense of encouragement for their first party titles. New announcements from Rockstar, Capcom and Konami made their third party support very healthy too. The lack of some key titles such as Ratchet and Heavy Rain must be disappointing, and with Microsoft ’stealing’ some titles such as Modern Warfare 2, they had to deliver some other exciting news.
The PSP Go announcement was never going to shock, but the price did for the wrong reasons. $250 is far too expensive for a new version of the system, but the emphasis seen on PSP this year is making for a heavy selection of titles actually worth playing on both versions of the handheld. Ranging from LittleBigPlanet to Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, the PSP lineup features some amazing games that should create some hype for the platform.
The biggest shock was obviously Final Fantasy XIV, closely followed by the Motion Controller, and both announcements made the conference more varied than it would have been otherwise. The spiritual sucessor to LBP, Modnation Racers was a nice surprise too. Links to all the biggest news can be found below.
Microsoft may have just beaten Sony this year, due to a near perfect display of games at their conference, but Sony came close, showcasing their still unmatched first party line-up. Not to discount Nintendo, who pulled back from last year with a great mixture of casual and hardcore games. E3 is back, and better than ever.

The PSP Go was THE worst kept secret of the whole E3. I wonder why can’t they keep the leaks in order? Nintendo and Microsoft are good at keeping secrets
