Electronic Arts made a big announcement yesterday that they have acquired the rights to license and distribute four of Eidos Interactive’s highest profile games, as well as the rights to any upcoming games for the next three years.
We have had great success with Eidos products on mobile platforms to date and this strategic relationship will allow us to focus on making quality mobile titles and utilising the presence and scale that EA Mobile has in the marketplace,” says Simon Protheroe, online publishing director of Eidos.
This means that we could most likely be seeing games the likes of Tomb Raider Underworld, California Games X, Minesweeper and Just Cause 2 coming to a mobile device near you. Both the Just Cause and Tomb Raider games are going to be based on the upcoming releases. California Games X will be coming courtesy of the 1987 Commodore 64 system, and really, who hasn’t heard of Minesweeper?
