Turtle Beach has released it’s next iteration of the popular “X” headphones to consumers, predictably dubbed it the X4. Turtle Beach describes the product as
the immensely popular X3 with pumped up performance that improves upon an already great design. Bigger speakers, larger ear cups, soft velvet ear cushions, removable mic, wider IR transmission range, digital and analog inputs, and the thrill of Dolby 5.1 channel surround sound
The chat function is only available for use with the Xbox 360, as it features a headset jack identical to Microsoft’s headsets, so as to include in-game voice chat as well as surround sound – there are separate volume controls for each. However, the headphones are indeed headphones, and can be used with the PlayStation 3 or other devices for easy, quiet-time listening. These noise-canceling headphones retail at $199.95 USD, which is what the X3s premiered at.
Nukoda Editor Mitch Dyer is an avid enthusiast of the X3 headset, and improving upon it (though it seems a bit too soon to do so) can only mean good things.
