Re: Launch of New Portable Game Machine

Nintendo Co., Ltd.(Minami-ward of Kyoto-city, President Satoru Iwata) will launch “N intendo 3D S”(temp) during the fiscal year ending March 2011, on which games can be enjoyed with 3D effects without the need for any special glasses.

“Nintendo 3DS”(temp) is going to be the new portable game machine to succeed “Nintendo DS series”, whose cumulative consolidated sales from Nintendo amounted to 125million units as of the end of December 2009, and will include backward compatibility so that the software for Nintendo DS series, including the ones for Nintendo DSi, can also be enjoyed.

We are planning to announce additional details at E3 show, which is scheduled to be held from June 15, 2010 at Los Angeles in the U.S.

The original press release can be found here.  We at Nukoda are looking forward to the details from E3 and will keep you current on any updates prior to the official E3 announcement.

LOL I love how they talk about compatability with DSi games when there are virtually none. (The cartridge games)
Nintendo, just bring the Virtual Handheld to DS and I’ll forgive you for all this and taking away GBA slot.
Or I’ll have to turn to flash carts for GBA emulation.

Am I the only one who doesn’t care about 3D..? Just seems like a fad or gimmic..

I guess the same could be said for motion control but at least that’s fun to use and enhances gameplay….

My initial thought was wondering if I really care about 3d. But then I realized Nintendo is going to make me care. I didn’t care about a touch screen until the DS came out. Then suddenly I saw all the cool uses of it. I didn’t care about motion controls until the Wii came out. Now I realize how much it can add to some games. Right now, it is no big deal if something can be 3d. But I have a full faith that Nintendo is going to do something amazing with it to make me care.
