GameBoy Virtual Console on DS?

Posted on Wed, Oct 24, 2007 in News, Nintendo DS

Nintendo DS games have been kind of few and far between as of late, and I know you’ve been aching to play your Cosmo Tank GameBoy cartridge, but wait! If Edge Magazine is on the right track, Nintendo might be creating a Virtual Console-esque service for your Nintendo DS. Being able to download original GameBoy titles on the portable system seems like something that should have been available closer to the Wii’s launch, but if it’s something that could come to fruition in the near future it could easily be a viable and successful service. I know I’d love to get my old Pokemon on or play some Blades of Steel without the cartridge, but the lack of internal memory is definitely a concern. Hopefully you won’t need a Wii to store/stream the game to the DS or something equally as inconvenient.

Hopefully they’re on to something over there in the UK, but if so, my credit card number just became my new friend code.
