An obvious series to be featured in a European based Sony Press Conference was SingStar, and this was just what happened a few hours ago in Leipzig.
We all knew that it was coming, and Sony didn’t disappoint with an announcement of SingStar Vol 3, set to feature tracks ranging from the Ting Tings to Michael Jackson. Once again, a new set of 30 songs will be available for £25, which will please anyone who isn’t one for Downloadable content from the SingStore.
But just like Vol 2, disc swapping is in full effect here, meaning that you won’t be able to copy songs to the hard-drive from the disc.
Sony also let karaoke fans know of some packs of songs coming to the SingStore and the PS2. Two separate Queen packs will be arriving on the store soon, at a price of 6.99 Euros for five songs, while a PS2 version is also planned.
The other PS2 game announced will please the musical lovers amongst the videogame crowd, featuring classic Disney tunes. This is a great idea, as Disney is one of those things that everyone will have experienced at one time, whether these memories are good or bad is up to you.
But despite this healthy amount of content, the standout announcement was of a new update that will allow players sing the songs from the PS2 versions of the game. This is the major feature that the game has been waiting for, and even though details are scarce at the moment, the prospect of having a vast array of songs available instantly is great.
Lets hope that its not just disc change, the ability to transfer sings to your hard-drive would make SingStar beat out any competition from LIPS in many fans’ eyes.
It’s great to see Sony so supportive of SingStar still, despite some backlash regarding the SingStore early on. Now is as good a time as any to join the SingStar party, its always party time with the ultimate karaoke game.
