After critical acclaim, but surprisingly low sales, the first DS version of the much loved Grand Theft Auto franchise didn’t achieve what it set out to do; bring mature titles to the console.
Rockstar today announced that a version of the game will be making its way to the PSP, the home to two already successful GTA games. The game is going to be revamped with wide-screen support, enhanced lighting and graphics, and some brand new story missions for Sony’s platform. Said to take full advantage of the PSP, this could be the version of the game to have.
With the game making the jump, hopefully sales will improve. GTA Liberty City Stories is one of the best selling games on PSP, and with the critical success that Chinatown Wars enjoyed on DS, this has to be the best action for Rockstar. Look for the game both in stores and for download in the Fall.

The question is, how will they adapt it to the PSP platform? There are a lot of mechanics that don’t translate well going from the DS to the PSP.
