Microsoft and Ensemble Studios announced today that Halo Wars will ship February 2009 in both standard and collector’s editions. And as if a time-table for release wasn’t enough, they also revealed that the Limited Collector’s Edition will come with three new maps for Halo 3: Assembly, Orbital, and Sandbox. These maps constitute the upcoming Mythic map pack, and will actually be available in the CE before the mass release on Xbox LIVE.
We will spare you the obvious Crackdown joke and just move right on to what else you can find in the collector’s edition:
- Halo Wars: Genesis, a novel by Phil Noto
- A unique in game Wraith (Covenant faction tank)
- “Six Leader Cards – Leaders possess elite skills which can turn the tides of battle” (your guess is as good as ours)
- “Spirit of Fire Patch – Start the journey as an official Spirit of Fire crew member”
The Limited Collector’s Edition is priced at $79.99, and those that pre-order from certain retailers can get a bonus in-game Warthog (human faction jeep) with flame decals.
Of course, you’re also getting the newest game from the people that brought us the acclaimed Age of Empires franchise, all wrapped in the Halo universe.
