Icarus Studios Making the Move to iPhone

Icarus Studios has announced that they are working to bring a version of their Virtual Worlds Platform to the iPhone.  The studio generally produces virtual worlds and massively multiplayer online games, like Fallen Earth. Basically, what this will mean to those iPhone gamers out there is that this may open the window for some pretty impressive games coming your way. The Icarus Platform demo is said to include a 360-degree panoramic tour of a virtual world, controlled via the accelerometer.

We are committed to porting our platform to established and emerging devices. The iPhone offers a tremendous opportunity to extend Virtual Worlds and MMOGs to mobile devices in a visually rich and intuitive device,” said James Hettinger, Chief Executive Officer, Icarus Studios

The company is planning to showcase a demo of their 3D platform prototype running on an iPhone at the Austin Game Developer Conference, which began today. The Icarus 3D iPhone client is set to officially launch at some point in Q1 2009.
