When a new top down shooter is announced for Microsoft’s Marketplace, it’s hard to become excited. Ion Assault looks like it could warrant a look though, with gorgeous graphics and a lot of variety for a small price.
The game looks very busy, and with no video footage of the game, screenshots can only show so much. As we know though, Ion Assault looks great, with detailed ships and enemies. Upgrade systems are in place, which should add some variety, and some reward for scoring big on tougher stages.
Set to include 4 single player modes and an extensive multiplayer, this could be a great alternative to games like Geometry Wars 2. Ion Assault is set for release on XBLA in the summer for the price of 800 Microsoft Points. Check out the other screenshots below.
