New Super Mario Bros Wii Sells Over 10 Million

Posted on Mon, Jan 25, 2010 in News, Nintendo Wii

Mario games are usually always a success, but after the somewhat lukewarm reception to Super Mario Galaxy in Japan, it’s crazy to think that in just 8 weeks New Super Mario Bros Wii has surpassed Galaxy by a substantial margin.

Few will say that New Super Mario Bros Wii is a bad game, but compared to the phenomenal Galaxy, it’s more than surprising to see such huge sales numbers for a 2D game. Sales of 3, 4.5 and 3 million in Japan, North America and Europe respectively are a testament to just how good Nintendo are at finding the right game at the right time.

Sure to sell even more, it’s nice to see a critically acclaimed, and 2D game sell so much in such a short space of time. Be sure to keep with Nukoda in 2010 though, as we prepare for the expected release of Super Mario Galaxy 2.
