You remember playing hockey with the buddies on a frozen pond.
That small-game scrum vibe, the 3-on-3 action, the goalie with pillows for pads to guard him against the speeding rubber puck.
3 on 3 NHL Arcade is a no rules, fast-paced downloadable game coming to Xbox Live Arcade (800MS Points) and PlayStation Network ($9.99) in February, 2009.
EA Sports promises ruthless checks, exaggerated player models, and the ability to lay a bodycheck down on goaltenders (something prohibited in hockey). They’ve included 40 NHL stars, with representation from every team. There are 30 teams in the National Hockey League, so we’ve used our limited math skills to deduce that some teams will have multiple players.
Players can use the “Skill Stick” controls from NHL 09 or a button layout (no word on how many of the controller’s buttons will be used, but we are guessing EA will keep it to a minimum to accommodate new players).
