Rock Band executives just found one more way to reach out to music fans and potential buyers of their game: live tour. The tour will be headlined by rockers Panic! At the Disco, and Dashboard Confessional — with special guests Plain White T’s and Cab.
The press release adds an enthusiastic “possibily YOU!,” prompting us to think, huh?, I’m not a musician! And if you’re tired of the line “in all the time you spend playing plastic guitar, you could have learned the real thing,” here’s a unique opportunity to rub it in the face of colored-button naysayers everywhere. Players will “rock their way to the main stage with a truly interactive experience that allows fans to compete head-to-head for a chance to play on the main stage between the tour acts’ sets;” winners will be selected through local radio and national contests onsite at each show.

Tickets go on sale August 8th; the tour will visit San Diego, Glendale, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Jose, Sacremento, Everett, West Valley City, Denver, Lincoln, St. Louis, Minneapolis, Rosemont, Ypsilanti, Toronto, Bridgeport, Lowell, Fairfax, Philadelphia, Newark, Atlanta, Tampa, Coral Gables, Gainesville, Orlando, Bassier City, Grand Prairie, Austin and Houston.
