Rock Band/Command And Conquer announced for App Store!

Rock Band MenuDuring it’s time as a developer for the App Store, EA has created an iPod/iPhone incarnation of almost all of its most well known franchises. Last week EA announced the release of two of it’s most notable absences in the form of Rock Band and Command and Conquer: Red Alert.

The first of these is the latest addition to Harmonix’s multi-instrument rhythm game, and has everything fans of the series and
genre have come to expect – aside from plastic instruments.

All band members are fully playable, although to differentiate them, EA and Harnonix have approached each instrument with a slightly different flavour.

The drums for example, are as you can imagine, are placed at the bottom of the screen, and it is just a case of tapping when the note hits the drum kit, which looks like the big brothers console version.

The vocal track is played differently however. The player moves the iDevice horizontally and play. Each mode is also playable in three difficulty levels. Easy should be easy enough for anyone to jump in to, and hard seems fairly challenging.

Rock Band features several modes of play. If you only have a short amount of time, there’s a quick play mode. If you want to play through various concerts with a band, there’s the compulsory world tour mode, and if you have friends with the game both online and local bluetooth multiplayer is included.

All American Rejects – “Move Along”
Beastie Boys – “Sabotage”
Blink-182 – “All The Small Things”

Command & Conquer is another popular EA Franchise, and the iDevice title is already looking good.

Red Alert is a prequel to the original Command & Conquer and takes place sometime during the 1950’s in a alternate universe following Albert Einstein’s cinvention of a time machine. Einstein chooses to erase Hitler’s existence, meaning that Stalin’s armies grow increasingly powerful and he is intent on taking over all of Europe and Asia.

Not too many details are available as yet, although there is a video below. The remake of the PC original, is said by EA to be launching on October 23rd.
