A PC only franchise up to this point, Trackmania has always attracted those that prefer to have insanely OTT tracks than have a sim like experience. Now the franchise is coming to DS, and looking at the screenshots, it could well be worth a look in November when it’s released.
Trackmania DS takes the essence of Trackmania, crazy tracks at high-octane speeds, and resizes it to fit onto the dual screen handheld. The game looks to be packed full of content, with over 100 tracks to race on, spread over three single player modes.
The multiplayer will be just as packed, featuring the now mandatory one cart wireless play option, allowing a group of mates to play using only one copy of the game.
But the one aspect of the game that looks most interesting is the Track Editor, which could well rival the Race Driver games on the DS in this field. Combining an intuitive way of creating tracks with the insane nature of Trackmania will hopefully make for a great game that racing fans should pick up in November.
