Listeners of the 1up Yours podcast this Friday were treated to yet another juicy rumor, elaborating on Shane Bettenhausen’s (Executive Editor of EGM) rumor from the prior week that a Microsoft executive was leaving the company. During a discussion in the third segment of the show, host Garnett Lee asked guest N’Gai Croal of Newsweek if he was familiar with a Nickelodeon cartoon, “Something Possible”. For those of you that are too cool to be hip with the infant cartoon scene, Kim Possible is what Mr. Lee was referring to, strongly suggesting that Microsoft’s Corporate VP of Microsoft Game Studios, Shane Kim, is on his way out the door.
What does this mean for Microsoft, and will we see MGS go in a slightly different direction? Microsoft has been aiming for a more “family friendly” approach to their games recently, so perhaps Kim is being replaced with someone dedicated to that focus. It’s a mysterious story, and still a rumor, but keep your eyes peeled and your ears open for more info in the near future. 1up’s rumors have a lot of credibility, but don’t bank on it.
